People's Choice Supermarket

In association with The Independent

This year for the first time we worked in partnership with national daily newspaper The Independent to find the People's Choice Supermarket. We gave the public the opportunity to vote for their favourite animal-friendly supermarket - the one they felt was putting animal welfare first.

The shortlist, chosen by our judges, was announced in August and the public were able to vote online and by text for either Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury's or The Co-operative. One month later voting closed and over 11.500 votes were cast. The winner, with 58% of the vote was the Co-operative.
